I know chase is pretty vigilant about not giving the same bonus twice but as far as Amex is concerned, I have always found their language a bit weird. So I closed my Gold business card on 08/23/2012...Does that mean I can get it again now since it has been more than a year?

Yes. BUT read the language in the T&C's. I believe you can't have had a BUSINESS Gold, Green or Platinum card in the last 12 months to receive the bonus.

    So if I've had a platinum business I can't?

If you've had it within the last 12 months, then no, you can't.

It was my impression that if you had the exact same product w/in 12 mo then you couldn't get the bonus again. If you had a different charge product (plat, green) it only needed to be closed for 90 days. Is this not the case anymore?

For personal cards, the wait is 90 days for the same family of cards.
For business cards, the wait is a full year for the same family of cards.

For personal and business, you don't get a bonus on the same exact card within 12 months.

I have a Platinum card. There was a promotion last year for Gold Rewards card - 50K MR for a minimal spend. So I got the card, called AmEx and confirmed that I would get the points. After three month with no points posted I called back again and was told that since I had another AmEx product I wasn't eligible for that bonus. That incompetence from AmEx (the first rep I spoke to that gave me false info) really pissed me off. So, needless to say I canceled that Gold card right away (along with AmEx DL Gold). I know for fact though that you do get DL bonus miles if you open the AmEx DL card a year after you close the previous one even if you have another current AmEx product.

Amex DL is not the same family as Amex plat/gold/green.
You can get a bonus for DL while having one of those 3. You can also get a blue card bonus or spg while having any of those 3.

Delta Gold card does give point but have heard it's 30k miles.
Since Delta si enxt to impossible to get the minimum award levels I don't palce much value in flying Delta anymore.

The only reason to get/keep the DL card is for the benefits. (luggage/priority boarding)

Signing bonus is not really that good anymore and with HIGHER FF awards costs not much of a deal.

RT SEA-AMS in coach is 87,000 miles not the 60,000 that Delta promises. And even then finding space availability is difficult.
