My wife has Silver until feb 2011. She has accumulated 24300 dividend miles this year. She needs 700 more miles. There is no chance of flying anymore on *A this year. Is there a way to buy EQM or can somebody suggest alternate ways to get them, so that she can continue to be Silver. Although there is not much benefit but she likes priority check in, security and priority boarding.

You can always try to call Customer svc, explain your situation. SOMETIMES, they help round up the miles if you're close. Not familiar with US' plan specifically, but do they have any hotel partnerships that award elite miles for stays? Maybe do a "mattress run" locally. There's no chance for a same day Mileage run somewhere close?

There is a buy-up program where you can buy EQM.

A few ideas - check out the US Airways Grand Slam - there are some EQM offers and you can do the first few hits with minimal spend. but time is running out.

Another idea is to splurge for a club membership. They have a EQM offer right now - don't recall the exact number, could be something small like 500 or up to 1000.

Indeed you can get 2k PQM for 16 hits on the Grand Slam. Should be relatively easy/inexpensive to achieve even this late in the game.

You could spend $249 to buy enough miles to cross the 25,000 threshold and maintain Silver status on US Airways and *A Silver through February 2013. Details here: http://www.usairways.com/en-US/dividendmiles/preferred/buy-up-to-preferred.html
