Getting Cancellation Funds from Southwest

  1. Not sure if this is even possible, but thought I would ask and see what you all think.

First, a little background: I had a trip planned on SW that I ended up having to cancel last minute. It was a non-refundable ticket, so I have a "credit" with SW that has to be used by 2012.

Instead of letting that money sit there doing nothing for me I was wondering if I could use those funds to purchase a refundable (Anytime) ticket, and then cancel that ticket and get those funds "refunded" to me.

The catch I may be missing is any fee's or other taxes I might not be thinking of...

    So, would this work?
  2. No, this will not work. The funds will remain non-refundable even after using them to purchase and cancel an Anytime ticket.
