"downtown" walking distance isn't too enticing

Pretty much anything physically connected to Centennial Olympic Park is good (I know there's an Embassy Suites there), and of course the closest is the Omni Hotel CNN center.

there's a HI and HIX close-by if you're wanting less expensive. you won't need a car. MARTA is acceptable enough for where you'll need or want to go. airport to 5 points station, and then i can't remember what line you connect to.

i wouldn't go walking anywhere south of 5 points, or even outside that station, honestly.

Very true. Even if it looks like there are things near 5 Points, I do not suggest walking there. Definitely not if you are a lone female. I would only recommend transferring to another train or just passing through that station, not actually exiting it.

If you want to jump on MARTA and ride for a few to get to shops and restaurants, you have a ton of options. I love walking around Decatur and there are some great restaurants out there and it's very walkable. Straight shot on MARTA. Buckhead is also a good option for more upscale stuff and if you want to shop.

I can't help with hotels since I live here but I definitely know eating and shopping :D

    Thank you all for replying
I will have to be at 8 am classes at that convention
    Center
    Ugh
So although I would prefer staying in a nicer area
I am reluctant to stay midtown or buckeye
    Vs downtown
But with all the negative feedback I'm now kind of scared
To stay downtown are there any decent restaurants there?
The court yard Marriott downtown got decent reviews on
Trip advisor..... Any thoughts?? Vs omni
    Or Marriott marquis downtown?
I live in NYC and don't need to go shopping or
Big time dining whilst in atl
I just need to be comfortable, accessible to the convention center
And not feel freaked out scared going between hotel and courses.
My flight is arriving atl at aro 9:30 pm so how do you suggest
I get to hotel if I stay at
Any of the above mentioned please?
Also should I completely rule out downtown and stay
Midtown - or at loews where I am a plat?
What would the commute be like on Marta
    Um not renting a car
    :)
    Thanks!!!!

I like the Omni. There's the iconic tall Westin a few blocks away, up a slight hill. The W downtown is also nearby.
