Seating assignments on US Airways still confuse me as a UA *G (1K).

I'm flying SEA-PHX-east coast tomorrow and the system auto assigned me "Choice" seats for free. Great news.

Today I checked in online and looked at the seat map and while the seats that were auto-assigned to me were still there I was able to select the second exit row window on the A319 on the PHX-east coast flight for *no charge*. But the SEA-PHX exit row seat is $64.

Can anyone help me make sense of the random seat costs on US? Why is an exit row on an A319 free but an exit row on a shorter flight on an A320 cost $64?

I'm super happy to see that even though I'm flying US Airways with UA *G status my BP still has TSA PreCheck on it. Score! :tu:
