The answer is "yes", although it is next to last in "pecking order"...

Just about every paid fare is eligible for upgrade using a RPU.

You can, as I upgraded LAX-IAD which was a G fare into R. Additionally, I received a CPU on CLE-LAX, which is a G fare as well.

On a G fare this Saturday. Been at RN9 since the weekend and subsequent opening of the upgrade window, though no CPU cleared still. However it does say it is eligible on the new preview sight. Any thoughts?

What's your status, and how many total seats are there in F? If you're Silver and it's a small cabin, your odds are slim. They are only beginning to process upgrades on higher tiers for a Saturday departure. I have gotten plenty of upgrades on G fares, but even as a 1K, I don't count on them if it's an 8-seat or 12-seat cabin on an A319/320

But on the 737-800, there are always plenty of upgrades to be had. Although for your best chance, the 757-200 offers the best.

I know for my flight tomorrow, I only got upgraded on Tuesday... it's not so much when R is available now, it depends on the sub-bucket for upgrades is released.

1K. So my 96-hour window would have been Tuesday, no? It's on a wide open 738.

Correct, but as a 1K as well, my upgrade didn't clear until Tuesday for a flight on Thursday.

Yeah, guess I still just don't quite get why you have a bucket with inventory if if doesn't clear according to the plan.

    It's a sub-bucket of R that contains CPU upgrades.

$$$ - I have had them hold seats on several occasions until 30 minutes prior to departure. Not sure if that policy has recently changed, as it has been about 90 days since it last happened, but I was told by more than one GA that it was the policy. That may not be for R or some sub-bucket of R, but being number one on the wait list an hour before departure and being told to pay or take my chances irritated the heck out of me. Worse yet, I lost both of them.
