I am sure most of you know that Etihad is getting a 3 room suite on its London to Abu Dhabi route, eloquently named the "Residence".

Well Ben at One Mile at a Time is asking for YOUR money to be able to provide YOU an "interactive as detailed as possible" trip review. That's right folks. shell out money so you can WATCH him "live" in the residence for 6-7 hours, right from the comfort of your own residence. What an awesome Kickstarter idea.

The only odd thing there is that with his skill I'd expect that he would figure out how to book a ton of reservations in advance with miles to insure he is on one of those flights when its first released and thus would get it for points...

Getting it on points is a straight $/point game; that's going to be a bad investment.

This product needs to be reviewed? Now that is funny! As for Ben One Mile at a Time, if he can't afford it, why should others want pay for him to try it out?

Not sure what the fuss is. I won't be contributing, but more power to him if enough people want to chip in to read the review.

More to the point, why should other people want to pay for him to review it in order for him to make more money from his blog?

Those credit card referrals must be less lucrative than I thought. Scratch "Become a credit card blogger" from my 2015 to-do list :)

No particular reason that people should want to, but evidently enough people do want to.

I subscribe to the New Yorker, which results in my getting shown a lot of advertisements. Not sure how this is that much different.

I'd probably be as much interested in the report as I am in the Departures magazine that Amex spams my mailbox with every month or so. This isn't even aspirational travel for me anymore. I am interested in spending my time on reviews that actually help me in some form. :)

I imagine then, like me, that you won't be contributing to the campaign?

That would be correct. I have no problems with him running this Kickstarter campaign, but I am not supporting it with my money.

We should nominate one of US to go. Then, I'd be happy to contribute! (If it needs to be reviewed!)

FWIW, he's almost half funded already. Either he has a lot of friends or there's a lot of suckers out there.

OK, I just read his AF A380 F review. 2 individual pics of the hot towel supplied at both dinner and b'fast? Wasting my time.

Or there are a lot of people who really want to read a review of the product (for whatever reason) and are willing to chip in some $$ to make it happen.

really...? I am just wondering, can you make a pledge and then back out? Or a point of no return... Never looked into kick starter but I am presuming there should be a get out clause.

You can change or cancel your Kickstarter pledge until the end date.

The eight $500+ backers are tipping it a bit, but he currently has 385 backers total which is impressive for the short time.

FWIW, I'm one of the suckers who funded him. I don't have a big desire to read the review, just thought it was funny when the AA Twitter kerfluffle happened and threw a few bucks in the hat.

ETA: I am NOT one of the $500+ guys. :D

Guess my seat next to him at the Freddies was worth $500  I may have gave him enough to earn myself a virtual high-five.

O.K., but it is puzzling that someone would finance a review if they themselves could not afford that product. Or, stated another way, if you can afford Etihad's all-suite plane ride, why would you finance someone else to review it for you? "If you can't afford it, don't buy it"-
