Hey everyone, I am a newbie....I read people writing about fuel dumps, etc. What exactly is it? When you have a flight with a fuel dump does it make the flight cheaper? Should I look for flight connections with dumps in them? If so, how do I look for them? I know the matrix software site but not sure how to look it up even on that.

I've been burning my retinas out trying to read and learn about these myself. I really only have a very basic understanding of it. Add a magic segment to your itinerary, and the YQ (fuel surcharges) disappear. I have been trying to play with various scenarios on a particular itinerary but no luck yet.

There are at least three threads on fuel dumps: Trick It!, Trick It FAQ, and Trick It Candidate Fares. Each has a tendency to go OT, so I would suggesting reading all of them.

Simple answer, adding a last leg to your journey to any city in Canada.

PS, you don't take that trip. ;)
