It was just announced on TOBB that the entire Coupon Connection forum is going offline for an indefinite time. It sounds like the plan is to re-open it after clean-up and with new rules.

The background is that a lot of people have been having their accounts audited/closed after posting offers of eVIPs and other AA stuff for trade. See recent posts in FT's big "account audit" thread in the Pre-Merger AA forum and (while you still can) the thread in CC started by JonNYC discussing the account problems and possible brokers in CC as well as claims that AA employees are coming to FT and accessing CC to look for violators.

To anyone who trades/barters AA stuff: You have been warned!

Personally I never did understand why existed in the first place and seemed to be a complete contradiction of what FT claims to be against their TOS.. wink, wink, nod, nod.

But this is not the first "scandal" if you care to call it that on CC.... years ago a Ftalker with many thousands of posts and many transactions related to that board was hauled in by AA and despite many warnings by Jon over the years .. the "we know better and don't give crap crowd.." ignored him.
Added to that when AA tried to attract UAL members to EXP status many of them seemed to have taken up AA's offer for the sole reason of selling the e-vips.

Not surprising to me and couldn't happen to nicer bunch of guys.:D

Of course there were brokers working in CC. That they weren't shut down long ago is a shame.

The forum was started as a way for people to give away expiring/unneeded certs and perks. It morphed in to something much worse.

FWIW, we thought about not having one at all on MP for fear we wouldn't be able to control the same sort of behavior.

Our initial decision to make it post only was a hopeful compromise to help folks give away things while trying to prevent commercialization.

I can't say 100% it's working. If no news is good news, then I haven't heard of anyone getting screwed by a broker, etc.

But, that doesn't mean everything in our Exchange is kosher.

Sometimes it is best to read between the lines.

Even Gold does not mean anything, nor do the number of post.

FT will not even let the Pizzaman talk at their FTU events...

When you come over here they make you start over again, but then I've been Lifetime Gold for a long time, so we can live with it.., hope you can too.

And I guess die with it too. Will they let you put it In a will? I suspect it's not transferable to next of kin.

We need to break down that wall! Maybe I'll offer to speak in Chicago this year.

I remember something being said in Seattle about this,

Keep them separate, FT is congested

Lot of info, but a lot of lies on FT., not as bad @ M.

Seattle, Chicago two different events, one was like being in the back of the plane in the middle seat...
