Despite much protest from Frontier’s popular “spokesanimals”, the Denver-based carrier today announced it will let the people choose the next animal to appear on a Frontier Airlines aircraft tail. Auditions begin today at FrontierAirlines.com, and will end on April 7, 2012, when the 18 potential characters will be whittled down to the top three. Voting on the final three will take place April 9-15, with the winning animal announced at the end of April.

“Frontier’s spokesanimals have enjoyed such a loyal following and we have no doubt our fans will choose the best animal to join the team,” said Dan Krause, Frontier’s vice president of branding and customer experience. “We hope our fans will enjoy getting to know the 18 potential candidates through our television spots and by visiting the audition room at FrontierAirlines.com. There is some real talent in this group and we expect our fans will have a difficult time picking their favorite.”

The new commercial is outstanding and it returns the animals to their rightful place - the tails.

(Although the CGI of the auditioning animals is a bit rough.)

Frontier Airlines New Animal Search Down to Three

    http://www.marketwatch.com/story/frontier-airlines-new-animal-search-down-to-three-2012-04-09

Eighteen tried, but only three survived. Frontier Airlines today announced that Chloe the Chipmunk, Enrique the Tree Frog and Polly the Parrot were chosen as the final three contenders in the Denver-based carrier’s search for a new “spokesanimal”. Voting on the final three starts today and ends Sunday, April 15, 2012, only at FrontierAirlines.com.
“The 18 contenders received a tremendous outpouring of support from the public,” said Dan Krause, Frontier’s vice president of marketing and customer experience. “Thousands visited our website and Facebook each day to learn more about the contenders and select their favorite animal. Now we need the public to help us one last time by visiting FrontierAirlines.com to cast their vote for one of the final three.”
With only one week of voting to go, the contenders are applying some alternative tactics to get votes. All three participated in a debate late last night, moderated by Larry the Lynx. Clips of that debate will be available throughout the week on Frontier’s website at FrontierAirlines.com.
The top three are also planning to hit the streets of Denver and Colorado Springs this week in an attempt to win votes. Keep an eye on Frontier’s Facebook (Facebookcom/FrontierAirlines) and Twitter pages (Twitter.com/flyfrontier) for more details.

Reporter’s investigation embroils Frontier Airlines in animal voting scandal

    http://kdvr.com/2012/04/13/reporter...s-frontier-airlines-in-animal-voting-scandal/

Eagle-eyed Westword reporter Jonathan Shikes has uncovered a scandalous case of misrepresentation that threatens to snare Frontier Airlines’ effort to name a new animal mascot for the tails of some of its planes.
Shikes contends a ground squirrel may be masquerading as Chloe the Chipmunk.

Is Frontier Airlines secretly backing Chloe in a fraudulent effort to usurp the prestigious mascot position from her final two competitors, Polly the Parrot and Enrique the Tree Frog?

    To paraphrase a famous author:
The stench of corruption lingers long after winter’s hibernation…
At least that’s my take, with tongue firmly planted in cheek (actually, I just made up that quote. Apologies.).
As Alvin and his crew proved long ago, chipmunks are much more marketable than squirrels
