LA Times: Free Wi-Fi, more leg room, leather seats on Greyhound? Really

My first thought was, "Really?" Not that Greyhound is going to get me across the Pond... :) Growing up in Northern California, we rode Greyhound many times up/down I-5 and 99.

    :)

There is no reason, in principle, that bus travel can't be comfortable and economical — it is in Mexico.

It’s to compete with MegaBus etc... Looking at WAS -> NYC I see "express" busses operating by various carriers, I wonder if that means it’s a crap shoot for the better seats etc... The DC/NY buses feature services like WiFi etc, but some days you show up and there is some random replacement bus with varied levels of service that is not the picture perfect bus you expect.

Question is “Reserved Seating” a real seat number? Or are they just saying that if you have a ticket and show up late you will have a next to the bathroom seat saved for you?

    Finally:
    Express Service
Who likes to sit and wait? With Greyhound Express, you can reach your destination by traveling from point A to point B without any stops in between on most routes, and with only one rest stop on longer routes.

How come a route with the following stops are labeled express?

    08:46 PM
    Thu, 05/24 06:31 AM
Fri, 05/25 9H, 45M has the little e for express icon next to this 2 $32.00
    $46.001
    $71.90
    $162.00

i keep forgetting that Greyhound still exists. rode that several times in the midwest, going to visit grandparents as a kid. when i was a teen living in the Florida keys, we would ride it up to Miami to go to the mall.

to think that it has been around for 100 yrs. imagine how fun bus travel was way back when.
