Free Things to Do in LA

  1. Forget cracking open the piggy bank to experience the best of LA. Check out these gratis activities to make your stay memorable and still have some dough left over to try a Pink’s hot dog.
    1. Hike
Due to LA’s predominantly “plastic” reputation, visitors tend to forget the magnificent natural beauty along LA’s coastline and canyons. Fryman Canyon offers an easy to medium hike, with panoramic city views. The environmental non-profit group, Tree People, hosts a monthly full moon hike through Coldwater Canyon Park. Temescal Canyon, off the Pacific Coast Highway, rewards you with breathtaking 360° views of the Pacific Ocean and downtown LA. Traverse trendy Runyon Canyon to catch a glimpse of your fave TV celeb or miniature canines.

    2. Attend a TV Show Taping
In the entertainment capital of the world, TV show tapings are aplenty. Line up before the sun rises outside CBS Studios for Price is Right. Bring the whole family to enjoy a taping of Wheel of Fortune. Make advance reservations to attend popular talk shows like Jay Leno and Bill Maher. “C’mon down!” and make your TV debut as a contestant or audience member.
    3. Venice Beach Boardwalk
Window shop at the countless souvenir stores selling cheesy postcards, cheap but oh-so-hip sunglasses, and colorful Jamaican-themed bikinis. Break out the smartphone to film your personal version of “Lords of Dogtown” starring the skaters nailing tricks at Venice Skatepark. People watching at its finest, snap photos of Mr. Universe types at Gold’s Gym, have some fun with the electric guitar playing cyclist dude, and make some noise with the double-jointed krump group.
