I actually really like this property. Considering the difference in rate between SGS, Westin and 4P, I found 4P to suit my requirements best. Even if Aloft is offering lower rate, two things sway me to 4P: complimentary (delicious, albeit limited) breakfast and its proximity to BTS.

And I don't even drink beer to take advantage of the Happy Hour!

Aloft is a few metres closer to the BTS (at Nana) than 4P at Asoke.

SGS is the best choice of the all for proximity- however I do agree some of the prices right now at 4P and Aloft are very interesting (I have booked the 2611 BHT special at Aloft which inlcudes breakfast @ 250 pp and also includes Double SPG points). What I like about Aloft is that the Internet is free. As a gold, I usually get stuck paying for internet at Starwood properties- and hence either book the SGS rates which inlcude Internet (they offer many) or stay somewhere else. It is a stupid thing, however in 2011 (almost 2012) paying for internet is something I will only do if I absolutely have to- it would be like staying in a hotel that charges me for the minisafe as an example.

Nice. I just booked the Aloft for a trip, stayed there a bunch of times. I like the SGS and the Westin too...but hard to beat the aloft for price when they have a deal...and convenient too.

Just an fyi - be careful if you are staying here in April 2012... the hotel is doing some construction on the roof and they warn of noise during the day. However, rates are lower in April (probably due to this). I liked this hotel a lot - great value for the money, but I won't stay here until the construction is over. If noise doesn't bother you (or you're out all day anyway), then you'll get a great deal at a nice hotel.

Thanks for the info. I thought the lower rate was due to Songkran.

I think this is a really nice hotel as well. It was my first stay at a 4points, and I was very pleasantly surprised. I though the service was better (in some ways) than the ROS.

Interesting these are two possible hotels for me during a 1.5 day transit in mid-June. I am wondering how you liked not just the hotels but over all experience of the hotel as well as the neighborhood.

It's a very convenient location. The neighborhood is always busy and lots of things to see and do. Great food options.

Please forgive my hazy comprehension (no sleep last night!), but are you recommending 4PS or ROS?

Sorry, I wasn't clear. Was referring to the neighborhood around 4PS. Spent 15 days at the ROS last month and they have much better Platinum benefits than 4PS but the location isn't as great as 4PS. You have to take a river ferry to the BTS or take a cab but traffic stinks!

Plus the double SPG points for many properties including the 4P... or, the THB 2,900 Starpicks rate for the Royal Orchid Sheraton! ;)

While I was debating 4PS v ROS, the issue was decided by the following promo I learned about: https://www.radissonbignightgiveaway.com. By staying one night in any Radisson hotel anywhere in the world, you earn a bonus of 50K points. That was difficult to turn down. So Radison Suites BKK Sukhumvit it will be. :)

Last night I got an email from SPG with various Thailand properties offers. One that got my attention is for this 4P with a great THB 2475++ per night including breakfast for 2. Great deal even for Platinums ...

That's only 75THB++ more than the Aloft is currently going for... without breakfast.

Edit: The rate seems to be available from Dec 21 onward*. Also the 2970++ rate includes breakfast while the 2475++ doesn't on my search.

*Is this meant to coincide with the end of BBtN?

The 4 points Bangkok is much nicer property than the aloft. This 4 points in really unlike any other 4 points. It's better than most stateside sheratons.

Interesting- out of curiosity what makes it so much better than the Aloft?

Agree on the stateside point if by saying that you mean the United States.

Agree that US Sheratons can be underwhelming.

Still relative to earlier question- also the BKK aLoft is a step above many USA hotels- is there something particular you prefer about the 4 Points?

For the sake of getting everything about a certain property in one spot just in case our fellow travelers are looking for the information ... we do this on TOBB, why couldn't we do it here too! :)

Staying now. Really enjoy the breakfast here. Had the pool and gym all to myself in early morning. Staff is very nice, as usual. Seem to bounce back and forth between the 4P and Aloft based on rates, and points or C&P availiblity.
