Food that you like to be served onboard

Discussion in 'General Discussion | Dining' started by concorde007, Mar 27, 2011.  |  Print Topic

  1. Hello everybody,

We spend so much time flying and most of the time we depend on the food you have onboard. I wanted to open a thread to understand what is the best food you want to be served onboard! I understand this is a pretty vast topic, may be your comments or suggestion might help us get better food onboard next time

    Your comments please :)

    Cheers,

Rare beef without sauce in international Biz or FC, because usually there's a wonderful red wine that I want.

Stuff that will NOT make you pass gas as much or is undercooked/contaminated.

I do like steak, bibimbap and lobster though. One day I shall travel through Asia in F and have the lobster thermidor on SQ and OZ's steak and bibimbap... accompanied with great champagne and red wine! :)

I want things that work well with the constraints in the air. Braised meats work well, for example. A sushi box would be nice, as well. A good stew would work, too, or even something like chili.

Steaks, even in international J or F, usually leave me wanting.

    Agree 10000% on bibimbap.

I don't want anything smelly to be served. If you're not eating it, the aroma of fish or lamb or curry in the cabin for the next twelve hours can be disgusting.

Bibimpap gives me gas. ^ to rare beef. Stroganoff would be nice
    (also gives me gas). Impossible dreams: a return to real caviar days;
fresh fruit that could be cut with anything less than a hacksaw.

One of the best soups I ever had was last month, TG F BKK-NRT. Braised duck rice soup.

I love the bi bim bap in Asiana business.

I do love a little caviar onboard, largely because I don't indulge on the ground. Here's a recent ANA serving:

    Here's some from Cathay:

    And the huge Lufthansa portions:

A real baked potatoe with sour cream and chives on the side, oh yes and the jacket of the potatoe crispy not steamed in tin foil.

A real baked potato with crispy skin loaded with bacon and melted cheese would be a wonderful snack on domestic FC.

DL serves a crabcake dinner that's as good as any I've had on the ground. It's offered every fourth month and I'm always happy when I have a BE flight during a crabcake month.

I had those BTC beef rib eye on SQ. I want it medium rare without any sauce. And I just want less than a half of the portion. The crew loves those beef. So they cooked it for me with the red wine. :D

Salads, salads, salads. I like something that doesn't feel too heavy and requires a knife and fork. I don't like finger food on board. Plus, it takes a while to eat so it kills time.
