Now that TAM has moved to terminal 8 at JFK, premium cabin and Star Alliance Gold members flying TAM flights to Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo are given a pass to the Admiral's Club in Terminal 8 nearest security.

In short, there is no need (as a Star Alliance Gold Member) to worry about getting through security at Terminal 1 or 4 to get to the Swiss lounge or the Lufthansa lounge, then getting back.

A related update: contrary to many available sources, the Swiss lounge at Terminal 4 appears to be past security, and no longer pre-security.

Hopefully this post is found by some poor sap searching through all the previous (now incorrect) information.

This changed in mid-March 2013 with the reset of the security situation at T4.

Good to know. I was wondering about this for my trip Thursday JFK-GIG-SCL.

Have a friend who flew JFK-GIG-EZE a couple days after the switch to T8, and she had a tough time getting access to AAdmirals club as a Star Gold and boarding pass on TAM. Glad to hear this seems to be resolved.
