I think it will be beneficial to list some actual FOPs earned by MPers so you can double check your calculations when you are planning for your MR. Below are some of the FOPs numbers from me and fumitani. Please add those you get from your account so I can add them to the list. Thanks!

Just wondering, isn't this a bit overkill? If you multiply the number of different routes by the number of possible combinations of class / discount factor etc etc, you get so many things to list down.

Better just to know the correct mileage for the route and the formula necessary, no?

Well this will help us figure out the formula and you can verify you don't get it wrong because of fat fingers ;)

You got FOP numbers for TYO-MNL?

    If you think so...

I haven't earned any miles on JL yet this year so all I have are last year's flight data, with no JAL card bonus multiplier.
Unfortunately all the FOP records on the JMB mileage statement page were zeroed at the start of the year, do you know how to make them show up? These probably wont be of much help, but the miles that were used as the basis of FOP calculations (leftmost column of the mileage statement) were as follows:

    JL Metal
    OSAKA-SHANGHAI Y 831
    OSAKA-BEIJING Y 764
    TOKYO-MANILA discounted Y (70%) 1316
    TOKYO-MANILA Y 1880
    TOKYO-MANILA C 2350

    Non-JL Metal (OW partners)
    SHANGHAI-CHENGDU Y 1037
    HONG KONG-MANILA R 498
    HONG KONG-OSAKA R 1084
    HONG KONG-SINGAPORE R 1116

um...I don't know any way to get that number back. Actually they have that same JALCard bonus last year.

But for OW partners, those are the numbers :) Thanks

I was a little bored so I tried making a little FOP calculator in excel and it looks like this below:

    FOPCalculator.jpg

I only tried out making the domestic routes part, I seem to be off 1 mile at times.
I also can't get it to match the discounted economy + class J TYO-SPK of 1355 miles.

Anybody want to check it out or fix it up? It's here:

KIXman you should add a line for JALCard regular and JALCard Club-A

    Club-A gets 20% additional
    Regular gets 10% additional

I am having the same off by 1 error with my own spreadsheet. That's another reason why I want more data to "guess" what their formula is :p

For JAL flights, they show discounted Y as Y. But with partners, they actually show different classes for discounted Y

Maybe they use more exact mile data to calculate.
Or JAL could be feeling generous that day and decide to award an extra mile for good behaviour :p
