Also note that NYC Transit (MTA) operations will be suspended as of 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 27. Passengers on Aug 27's JL006 might need to find other means of transportation to get to their destination as the estimated arrival time is 11:25AM

Depending on the exact location of the storm, it is not inconceivable that JFK could be closed for an extended period of time. Indeed, parts of Manhattan and the outer boroughs, are already subject to a compulsory evacuation. This is the first time in history NYC that a storm has prompted compulsory evacuations in the city.

JFK is in the bottom right corner of the map. Depending on the strength of the storm when it gets here, JFK could be flooded for 12+ hours.

Note that LGA and JFK are in Zone B.

EWR should be fine from a flooding point of view at least.

There are, of course, plenty of places to divert to (YYZ, DTW) if conditions aren't hospitable here.

Depending on the storm's intensity, there is talk of JFK being completely flooded.

I mentioned this to the chatty immigration officer at T3 yesterday (immigration is below grade at T3) - he said he was quite aware of the flooding risk and was "considering [his] options."

Added info for Aug 29...JAL site shows they will be operated as scheduled but it could change later. Double check the latest flight schedule on JAL website before going to the airport.
