Fixing a possible iPhone DING signup error

    I didn't see this posted anywhere on the Internet, so here it goes for reference.

    If you try to sign up for DING alerts on the iPhone, you may get a popup box when you try to confirm the signup:

    ERROR: Please start the DING operation from the beginning

    If you get this, you need to have notifications turned on before signing up for DING. Here's what you need to do to validate that you have notifications enabled:
    1. Exit out of the app (you don't need to log out of the app)
    2. Go to Settings, then Notification Center.
    3. Scroll down to the Southwest entry and select it.
    4. Scroll to Alerts, and turn on "Show In Notification Center". You may want to adjust the other options regarding how the notifications will display.
    5. Exit out of Settings, then go back to the Southwest app.
    6. Now sign up for DING alerts and it should work.
    I've sent an email to WN to see if they can at least fix the error message.

    WN called me and e-mailed me this morning; they're going to forward on my defect to their Technology team. Not sure if I'll get updates after this.
