Permalinks to individual posts (displayed to the left of "Like/Reply" at the bottom of each post) currently have the form:

    http://milepoint.com/forums/threads/welcome-and-thanks.149/page-4#post-24552

If some posts from the previous thread page gets deleted, the post linked by the permalink will slip to the previous thread page and will no longer be accessible via the permalink. Can this be fixed?

I suppose the proper form should rather be

    http://milepoint.com/forums/posts/24552

This is only on pages subsequent to 1, and can only happen if posts have been deleted from one of the previous pages (so that a post would "shift" to a different page than the one it was originally on).

Thanks for the heads up cockpitvisit, sounds like a real and valid concern. I'm looking into this.

I already have a heap of links copied and pasted from the permalink. Is there any easy way to update them all to an unbreakable form?

Yes, but it is a bit of a manual thing to update those. Take your original for example:

    http://milepoint.com/forums/threads/answered-permalinks-can-get-broken.2761/#post-52614

find the post number at the end. Then just format this linke:

    http://milepoint.com/forums/posts/52614/

putting the post id that you want to link to in place of the number '52614' in the example. I'm still working on updating the link that is given in the actual forums, so that isn't how they are linked there yet. :)

If you check out the permalinks now you will see that the permalink url is one that will not break now. :) Thanks again for the report cockpitvisit.

    Thanks Tim
Now to figure out which posts I inserted permalinks to edit them manually.
