Star Alliance has released the first impressions of its new lounge at Los Angeles airport which will open later this year at Tom Bradley International Terminal.

Construction will be completed by the end of this month but will not welcome its first passengers until later in the year once the terminal has been completed and the existing six-year-old Star Alliance lounge has closed.

The new lounge will have two distinct areas, one for first class passengers and a larger section for those travelling in business class and for Star Alliance Gold passengers.

I am here now. The lounge is gorgeous. Really impressed that this exists in the United States, frankly.

Moderate hot and cold buffet (including Chicken Parm tonight), a noodle bar and a wide selection of beers and half decent wines.

There is an indoor terrace overlooking the retail area, akin to the LHR CCR, and a nice outside area with some limited Tarmac views, and lots of gas fires and heaters. Service has been pretty prompt.

It reminds me of a slightly more upscale NH J lounge in Tokyo.

We are here on Delta miles...VA J gets access.

There is also a separate First Class lounge, which has its own entrance.

The foregoing are some quick iPad photos.

Again, this would be "decent" by Asian standards....but remarkable on American soil.

Thanks for the photos! Now, if Star Alliance will just upgrade the Lounge at LHR T1...

Remarkable for sure I understand that you can pass TSA a TBIT even with a UA Boardng Pass (for those with time on their hands, this is an excellent option) ..
