Capture.JPG I was lucky enough to pick up a couple of the sub-$300 fares LAX-BDL-LAX AA was promoting for their new route. With the promotion and my status, the total miles are 15,159. Total cost for the ticket = $277.80.

Not a bad run at $0.183/cpm!

Are the miles right? Gcmap shows 5053 miles round trip. Is that three round trips instead of two ("a couple")? That would be 5.5 cpm for EQM.

Perhaps the promotion awards bonus miles I'm not calculating?

GCMAP is correct 5053 miles. Add in the double miles for EXP and double miles for the LAX promotion AALAX and you get 15,159 per trip. I am doing this run twice at the same price, the second one in October November. So I will pick up 30,318 RDMs.

    BDL-OCT.JPG BDL-NOV.JPG

I found some $422 fares in Oct/Nov. Not as good as what I was able to grab, but still not a bad run if you can get the triple. 2.78 cpm for RDMs.

I forgot to add these are same day (red eye) runs. On the ground at BDL for 1 hour 10 minutes. Leaving LAX at 11:55pm and returning at 12:35pm next day. The family won't even know I was gone!

UPDATE: The good news: My upgrade cleared for the red eye to BDL. The bad news, it didn't clear for the return to LAX... it was a long ride in Y... Hopefully I will have better luck in November!

I did the JFK route earlier this year on the new E+ on the United PS planes and it was bearable, and of course in J it was awesome, but I can imagine that plain old Y -- especially when you don't have to fly it -- feels pretty terrible :)

I usually fly 60-70 domestic segments a year and run about 95%+ on upgrades... I fly Y so little that when I do, it does tend to lean to the unbearable side... guess I am spoiled.:D

Hello Gary, This is Matt from the DFW trip to LAX. Have a great trip. I'm looking at booking this one in early Nov. Although not for the same cost but still good.
