Preferred seats on Express flights while we install First Class

    What to expect during installation

We're adding First Class to four US Airways Express fleets this fall. During installation, we will offer Coach service throughout the aircraft. But as soon as all aircraft in each fleet are updated, you'll be able to buy First Class seats, receive Preferred upgrades...and enjoy First Class service.

    Are you Preferred?

By January 2012, you'll enjoy complimentary upgrades on 640 more flights daily!

In the meantime, when you book...

Because we assign aircraft the day before a flight's departure, you'll see the current seatmap with a Coach-only cabin. Most likely, you won't know if there's First Class until the day you travel. But, be sure to book one and on the day you travel you may get to sit in a First Class seat if your plane is updated – but until the whole fleet is complete, we'll offer Coach service throughout the aircraft.

And once each fleet is complete, we'll start issuing automatic Preferred upgrades and offering First Class service.

Thanks, great to see proactive information like this being put out. Does this mean they've started installing F cabins on some aircraft already?

    Great news!

Too bad only >50 seats :( Would love to see F on 50-seat CRJ's too.

havent seen them in the hangar yet. They were supposed to refit the aft sections of the planes first while they were in MX. But we havent seen any work being done on the interiors yet.... Its gonna take longer than a few days to refit 36 E175's and 18 E170's.

I was looking to book some travel for late December last night, and the flight I was looking at was on an E-175, and the US Airways website was selling First Class seats on it, and the seatmap showed a First Class cabin.

That's cool, and pretty funny. Man, I want there to be no bulkhead in row 1 so I can stretch my legs!

I booked a flight in December yesterday that is scheduled on an EMB-175, and what I've highlighted in green definitely didn't seem to be true. They were definitely selling first class seats, and the seatmap was a two-cabin seatmap...the coach seatmap started at row 4. I know it says they're going to be done in October with that fleet, but I still got the impression they wouldn't sell F or show a F cabin on the seatmap until the whole fleet was done.

Does anyone have any updates on fleet progress with this? If the E-175s are supposed to be done in October, I would think there are at least a couple flying around now with the F seats...anyone experience this yet?

Here is the link to the updated status on the Express fleet:
    http://shopping.usairways.com/en-US/traveltools/intheair/envoyfirst/firstclass.html

"Click on EXPRESS" then click on PROGRESS REPORT"

I must admit, it is exciting to see progress on this. Flying out of OAK last week I ended up downgrading to Express. Can't wait to see these come on line!

Making good progress...just checked the US website, and the E-175 fleet is 100% complete (38/38) and they've gotten underway on the E-170 fleet (1/20). Exciting stuff!
