If I book a AA domestic flight through BA and using Avios, will get the first bag free if using the Citi AA Master Card to pay for the taxes?

Probably no. I think the free bag is tied in through your AA#, and since you booked through BA using Avois ... might not work.

but then again what do I know?

Recently, I only had to show a qualifying AA credit card to check in my bag for free. Some of that travel was on award tix similar to yours, but it didn't seem to make a difference.

i've been following threads all over the internet regarding this topic. the simple answer is:
Assuming you have Citi card tied to your AA #,
if you book for yourself, you definitely can get first bag free.
if you book for someone else, it's YMMV.

I've booked 3 flights on AA metal using BA Avios and my first bag was always free.

I had people on my PNR, but haven't booked for others.

And yes I went to AA afterwards and changed seats and all. And on the one time where I ended up on a Jetblue flight I was able to go into their site and choose my seat -- even "upgrade" to "Even More" for a fee.

I booked for myself and wife. Had to call AA and finally they got my BA number replaced with my AA number. Should work now since the free baggage amenity is linked to your AA number. Took about 2 hours, mostly on hold, and 3 phone calls.
