I how wonder how many intergalactic miles Mr. Spock had accumulated, and whether they would be enough to redeem for a standard award at category 10 Hilton properties after their historic "devaluation".
Imagine if the Enterprise came along and beamed one of the spanking new B787s to Pluto and back. Instant, lifetime GS status. There's nothing in the fine print to prevent it. That would teach United a lesson.
Not at all if the flight is sold as Earth to Pluto to Earth direct service. Now if it was Earth to Pluto, Pluto to Earth via Mars via a different voyage number then perhaps GS status is on order.
