Frequent Flyer Giving has proudly partnered with United Airlines in offering time in a 747-400 simulator at the Denver Training Center from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, August 23, 2014. We will be auctioning off (4) one hour increments via FlyerTalk and Milepoint. 100% of the proceeds will benefit the United WeCare Employee Relief Fund. Up to four people can be in the simulator at a time, although only one can be actively participating at a time. As such, we would highly recommend that each winner limit their group size to two people. We will NOT guarantee a particular timeslot for each winner, although we will make our best effort to accommodate each winner’s preference. As such, please be flexible on being assigned any hour between 10am and 2pm before bidding. The format and rules of the auction are as follows: 1) Bidders will post the amount they are willing to bid PER HOUR, along with the number of hours they would like (maximum of two per person/username) on this thread. 2) Bidders should post on only one thread on either forum. Bids will be consolidated across the two sites. 3) Once per day FFG will post in the respective threads for both forums the top bids for the available four hours based on the consolidated posts. There may be reasons that prevent this from occurring, but the transparent nature of the bidding should allow anyone to figure out what the top bids are at any given time. 4) Those who are outbid will, of course, be able to post another bid amount prior to the closing of the auction. 5) On the day the auction is over (August 10, 2014), the winners will be asked to donate to FFG the amount of the winning bid within 36 hours of the winners being announced to secure their timeslot(s). The winning bid will be the amount bid by the winner of the fourth hour (that is, the lowest of the winning bids for the four hours). All winning bidders will pay this amount per hour. 6) The ending time will be as early as 4pm Central Time on August 10, 2014, but after the first 15 minute period with no high bid activity. To clarify, there must be a 15 minute period that elapses without a bid after the earliest time of closing of 4pm to close the auction. If a bid was made at 3:58pm Central Time, then that earliest the auction would end is 4:13pm. If another bid was subsequently made at 4:10pm, then the earliest potential end time would be 4:25pm. The timestamp of each post officially recorded by each respective forum will be used to determine the end time. Official winners will be posted no later than 48 hours after the event is over. Legalese: a) In the event of a tie, the time of the post will be the tiebreaker, with the earliest post being the winner. b) Failure to pay within 36 hours of the closing of the auction gives FFG the right to declare another winner for the spot at FFG's sole discretion. d) Each hour won consists of access to only the United Airlines Denver Training Center’s 747-400 #4 simulator for a specific hour. UA reserves the right to substitute this specific simulator for another one if deemed necessary for operational reasons. e) The winners are responsible for travel to and from the event, lodging, and any other expenses they may incur as part of their attendance. e) FFG reserves the right to make any decisions it deems necessary regarding this event are at its sole discretion, including but not limited to clarification of any rules. Bidding starts at $50. Full dollar amounts only (no cents). Auction ends at or around 4pm CT on August 10, 2014.
