[Feb 28, 2014] Neapolitan Pizza Dinner (Dunning neighborhood (near ORD)) (Chicago, IL)

In late Nov 2013, Mrs Willie & I went to Naples Italy where we of course enjoyed true Neapolitan style pizza. Upon our return I wanted to revisit the same pizza style here in Chicago.

There is actually a certification a restaurant & staff can complete to be designated as producing true Neopolitan pizza. The organization is in Naples Italy, the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, which certifies restaurants worldwide for authentic Neopolitan pizza; the certification process is extensive and extends to recipes, ingredients, cooking equipment, etc. They have certified <50 restaurants in the United States, and we in the Chicago area are blessed with three locations that have this certification: Parkers' (in Downer's Grove IL a western burb of Chicago), and two in the city of Chicago: Spacca Napoli & Rosso Forno.

So c'mon out for a rare weekend night Milepoint dinner at Forno Rosso on Friday night February 28.

Time TBD, but most likely 7pm.

You had me at Italy (and being close to ORD helps). I'll check my schedule to see if I can make it.

 

If you (or any other Milepointer is flying into/out of ORD or staying at ORD area hotel), I can provide a ride to/from the restaurant as I live 3 miles north of ORD & will be passing right by ORD on my way to/from restaurant. So free car service !! (you'll have to put up with a Malamute hair or two)

 

Thanks for the offer. Mals are incredible dogs, so it would be honor to get shed on if I can make it. Seems the flight prices are much higher than they were a few weeks ago, so I'll keep checking.

 

You know I never pass up a good meal (remember what I put back at the bbque place? ) However, I'm going to have to pass as a previous commitment gets in the way. Enjoy!

Neapolitan is great! Chocolate Strawberry and Vanilla in one!

 

Mrs. Gargoyle and I ate at Spacca Napoli a couple of months ago- excellent place. If the other two are to the same standard they are certainly worth a visit.

 

Nuevo Leon doesn't take reservations but the 16 of us shouldn't have a problem getting a table on a Monday night.

So that means if you are on the fence, fear not about coming out, there is more than enough room, all are welcome !

 

I may be able to come. Still working on it.

On another note, who's up for that hot chocolate I talked about?
