What's your favorite restaurant in Charleston SC? My favorite is California dreaming. It's right on the water and the food is good.

I'm headed to Charleston later this month for the first time. Any other restaurant favorites?

My knowledge of Charleston is a bit out of date -- we lived there 15+ years ago, and we didn't have much money to eat out -- but we ate at the Hominy Grill once and loved it. I recall Magnolias and the Peninsula Grill as having good reputations. The Wreck in Mt. Pleasant is a good, somewhat out of the way, hole-in-the-wall seafood place on the water.

It's nice to know California Dreaming is still open. We ate there in 1999!

We spent a few days in Charleston late last year.
Hominy Grill was great for breakfast and we loved a little hole the wall place called Callies Hot Little Biscuits for some really great breakfast biscuits.

There are the well known and fairly decent places like Husk and the Fig but thought the best meal of our visit was at Edmunds Oast...that plus quite a nice French place, Brasserie Gigi.
