I've been looking at soem redemptions and just redeemed for three nights at the Bali Hyatt which is a Category 1 despite having a rack rate ~$200, and then I noticed Park Hyatt Mendoza is only a category 2, and I'll be there in April.

What are your favorite value Hyatt Redemptions? It seems like there may be many really great values to be had.

The Bali Hyatt is usually in the $100-130 range, if not right around the holidays. Great redemption if you're diamond and get club, too.

Otherwise I figure about 2cpm for points, and compare to the cash price. If any points promo (Ha!), I try to figure that into the comparison.

There are also some real values at the upper end, some hotels just eke into that category but since it s the top category there are hotels whose rates are really high.... eg Park Hyatt Sydney, Park Hyatt Maldives, Park Hyatt Vendome Paris.

But the time when I'm there it was significantly higher, made for a good award since all the prices were quite inflated for my trip.

Park Hyatt Milan, Park Hyatt Zurich, the new Andaz Amsterdam could be interesting too for redemptions.

You might check into Hyatt stay certificates. That's what we ended up using at Mendoza, as the Classic (IIRC) was only $109 and was accepted for the nights we needed. I thought that property a very good use of $109 per night.

Good idea, I'll have to look in to this...and even nicer since it covers all taxes making that 109 cover around 240.

Bali Hyatt was one of my favs. Club room rates were $240 plus taxes per night when I was there. Great value!

I've always gotten a club room or suites here as a diamond, even when paying a $90 a night Costco rate. I don't think I've ever paid more than $130++ a night. Used a bunch of the old Costco gift checks here in 2010, so saved even more.

It's okay...I'm not trying for Hyatt Diamond, rather just like to be mid-level in Hilton (Gold), IHG (Platinum), SPG (Gold), and Hyatt (Platinum), so I get at least basic benefits...makes it cheaper so I always have a cheap hotel option.

True, true. But, since OP was planning to use points, I figured it would be good to offer this additional, non-stay credit option.

Yeah everyone always talks about it being cheaper. We went at the end of September/beginning of October, which is apparently holiday time in Australia so it was sold out despite the higher rates.

For 5,000 points a night it's a bargain, especially with a club upgrade. Love the RC there!

Booking far in advance is the key. I book 11 months out and almost always find $90-100 a night.
