On the way back to my car from seeing the new SFO T-2 in all of its greatness, I decided to make a last stop in the SFO PC. It will be closing very soon, and I won't be by there before it is gone. Although I haven't flown CO since 1986 or so, the PC was handy for AS flights when the Bored Room wasn't open, for VX flights leaving from the A gates, or any other time a landside lounge was handy, including awaiting a ride.

The door opened just as I snapped the photo. I then went to the bar one last time for a diet coke.

And that was it. Goodbye. In with the new, then out with the old, in that order. I will miss you from time to time.

    Thank you for the photos.
I used to wait for my AC flights in this lounge when AC was still departing from T2.

The SFO PC was the very first PC I ever visited, back in 1999. I got in using a pass from one of the old Prestige Packs. That was also the first trip I was ever upgraded to F on.

IME, they don't ask for money, just for a moment of your time (which they then presumably use to ask for money, but I never let them get that far). ;)

It's a "free speech booth", so I use my free speech right to tell them that I am not interested in listening to them.

    (1) The PC has a warning sign about them on the door, as you exit.
    (2) When they ask "can I ask you a question" I reply "you just did" and walk on.

So the inevitable is coming so soon. :(

I love the SFO PC. They always greeted me (and my family warmly). In fact, my mom, who visits us several times a year, but is not a member of the PC, always goes in there before her return trip (she uses the Chase PC passes). The last time she went there, the people at the front came out from behind the desk and hugged her! Then, the lady who is in charge of the snacks came running over to her brandishing a banana, shouting, "I remembered your banana!"

You don't get that kind of greeting at EWR.

Haven't been able to visit the SFO PC yet, but the SFO RCC put me off the moment I saw the maximum occupancy sign, over a thousand... That's not a lounge, that's a theater...

When does it close? Will it be replaced?

Good questions. I'd like to know as well.

I'm assuming once AA moves out of the 60s gates in T3, CO will move there. And once that happens, they may create a third RCC, er United Club where the Admirals Club. Otherwise it would be a trek if you are flying out of the 60s gates to goto the RCC by the 80s gates.

Interesting to read, I'll be visiting end of April. Looking forward to cheking it out. If you have to lose a club, always best to lose a club in an airport with more options.

With the merger, it was inevitable that this club would close.

It was a dump, but the agents were fantastic and I have some great memories of the place, most of which involve me being well over served at the bar

I will never forget the look on my mom's face when I took her to SFO for a day trip from Michigan, we walked in for a quick drink and Jackie greeted me by name. Mom was freaked out.

Unfortunately, I learned on a recent trip that she recently retired and I never got the chance to say good bye.

I wonder when US will join UA and Air Canada in T3 so that all *A are on the same side of the airport.

Well, you do, but the EWR agent means something different.

Darn it, I won't be through SFO till mid-May. A couple weekends ago, I ducked my head in to see who was working the desk. If I had known the closure was on the horizon, I would have stayed to chat. Very sad.

As someone who often flies AC ex-SFO I can attest to the need for a lounge in this wing. There's no information on the SFO website as to who will be using T2 nor is there any indication on AA's site that a move is imminent. Logic would dictate that AA moves to T2 and CO into T3 to make it an almost STAR terminal. Not sure there are enough gates to accommodate US in the wing.

AA is moving to T2 and the other *A partners are moving to T3. That's been on the books for a while now. The merger accelerated the CO move but the rest of it has been expected for a while now as AA leaves for T2.

Huh. I just booked EWR-SFO-EWR arriving May 11 on CO (the return is on UA) - It'll be interesting to see how well the transition goes.

I'll say this much - I've never been to the SFO PC, but it'll be odd arriving at SFO on CO metal and NOT getting parked in the 3X gates...

IMO, the airport employees are doing a great job of really learning the system of both airlines, working together, and ensuring a smooth transition at their stations... I can't really say the same for headquarters based on my experiences with both websites...

It will be weird, but at least T3 is a big improvement compared to T1

A huge improvement, yes, although I WILL miss having Max's at my disposal during a long delay or very early morning departure.

T2 will become the STAR Terminal and the Admirals Club an RCC (United Club).

You mean T3 is going to become a STAR terminal, right ;)
