I'm not entirely sure ranting about the plane crashing and 9/11 and subsequently being tackled by first class passengers and slammed into the bulkhead qualifies as "a bit nuts". :D

    I found this line interesting:
"A passenger from Wisconsin, who I spoke with a few minutes ago, called 911 but was ultimately hung up on."

    I am imagining this:

911: Sir, I understand that a flight attendant is freaking out and screaming about the plane crashing, but is the cabin door shut?
    Pax: Yes.
911: Well, then you should not be on the phone - click. ;)

I've gottten about this far, and am trying to picture this (as one who occasionally is involved in restraining un-well people):

as police escorted the flight attendant, kicking and screaming, to one of the several police cars that surround the plane on the tarmac,

Love this update posted on the original article:

Update, 12:30 p.m.: The flight's on the ground, but it will need to restock its alcohol supply. Details after the original.

If was on that flight I'd certainly need a drink or two to stay on the plane. No surprise it's all gone.

In all seriousness, I hope the FA gets the help she needs. This isn't normal behavior and hopefully some help is offered to her.

Very nice. The Jimmy John's guy must have arrived at the same time the call came through.

I guess she just had one of those days where you don't wanna go to work. Maybe she forgot that acting like crazy, and saying stupid things to the boss/colleagues, which in a 'normal' job may result in "Uhm, why don't you go home and get some rest. See you tomorrow", doesn't work that way in this business :)

Maybe the reporter is geographically challenged and thought it added an exotic flair. Bora Bora, Kathmandu, Wisconsin. See, fits right in. :)

This is what Fox News has published about the American Airlines flight 2332 DFW to ORD flight attendant plane crash PA announcement incident.
    http://foxnewsinsider.com/2012/03/0...-plane-would-crash-complain-about-bankruptcy/

Maybe it was a good thing that my updated lifetime platinum AAdvantage credentials have not arrived for 2012. I was planning on flying with American Airlines after my new 2012 AAdvantage credentials are received to redeem over 2,000,000 AAdvantage miles. It is scary to read that two AA flight attendants were injured on AA flight 2332 today. I am confident however that safety is still American Airlines first priority.

Would this isolated incident really influence you to seek another carrier? That seems like a bit of a reach....

I suppose everyone stopped flying JetBlue after Mr. Slater had his meltdown, too! ;)

Well, with every national news outlet and local outlet leading with this story and comments like ABC World news saying AA does not have a specific screening ongoing requirement nor does the FAA require one" will unfortunately have some negative impact in the short term on airline choice for the non frequent travelers, there is no comedic side to this FA story unlike the JetBlue incident. What really bothers me is the national news reports focusing that AA does not have a continuos screening policy and is not required to by the FAA - they should have reported as-- most if not all the airlines are in the same boat.

I'm not sure this will really have much impact, even with short-term non-frequent travelers. Price point is king, and I don't think this one incident will sway that much.

While it's not in anyway scientific and a sample size of just "moi", I noticed that this story didn't get posted on Facebook by anyone on my friends list. Typically stuff like this gets at least a few hits when I'm scrolling through my feed. I can usually count on one crazy family member to proclaim they'll never fly AA again based on this. Or perhaps I'm just optimistic. :)

Wouldn't it have been great if it was a MP member that tackled the FA. Even better if it was Ex Plat member in coach trying to get his free snack!
