What has been the experience of Diamond members with GP extending the deadline for expiring Confirmed Suite Upgrades that you've not used? Does GP hold the line firm or is it relatively easy to get them to extend the expiration.

Remember expiration deadline is when you have to redeem them by - not when you actually need to stay. So at least for me this becomes a non-issue since I can always plan something for the future.

Just book a room and request a suite upgrade prior to upgrade expiry. I did that with one just the other day.

It's important to note that if you make a reservation for AFTER the upgrade expires, and then have to change the dates of that reservation (or destination, for that matter), you will lose the upgrade.

Does this make it better? ;)

Sally Struthers: "For only $1 a day, you can ensure that no Hyatt Diamond will let a Suite Upgrade Cert expire. Sadly, each Diamond member receives only 4 certificates per year, but for your tax-free donation, you can enable a Hyatt Diamond to save hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars on each of those trips to places such as Kauai, Tokyo or Paris. Imagine the joy in the face of that Diamond member as he or she is escorted to their palatial suite that they received for only $99 per night. CALL NOW TO HELP!"

    I don't think they're transferable.

sigh...I guess I'll just have to do it the old fashion way. Butter up the desk agent with a nice tip or pay for it. Thanks for the knowledge.

Lol, too funny! Nah that's not me, I'm not a business traveler like you guys. The only time I bring up my status is when I need to write a nastygram to customer service, I'm told I'm in the wrong line, or it's not time for me to board (this is what happens when you travel in sweat pants and a t-shirt) I hardly ever upgrade, only on flights longer than 4hrs or hotels stays longer than 3 days. As is the case here. Besides I'm NOT a Diamond guest, lol

I failed to do the same. They said "paid rate" did not include "event rates"

I just called trying to apply an expiring suite upgrade to a reservation for the first weekend of March and was told I couldn't use it because the upgrades MUST BE USED by February 29. I asked if he was absolutely sure of this, and was told yes.

I am not happy, though will do the old hang up and call again procedure...

That is not correct for a Diamond Suite upgrade certificate. Make sure you are calling a Diamond Line. Refer them to T&C printed under your suite rewards. I have a reservation in May which was upgraded using suite certificate expiring 2/29/2012

Yeah, first call was a moron. Second hung up whilst contacting the hotel. Third try seems confident all will be fine. Not a winning CS line this morning though...

TAHKUCT, you used a suite upgrade at the PH DC that you booked though FHR, which is what I am doing. Did you get a better upgrade as a result? Just curious...

I guess I really need to start thinking of some potential trips for my remaining three certs. Then again, I suspect I'll be in the same situation next year with the four new certs, so it just may not matter all that much. The stays where I would like to use a certificate are typically award stays for me.

Correct. They confirmed me in the lowest level suite. I am hopping that I will get bumped to at least the next level suite upon check-in. However, for the price I have paid and amenities I will be getting, I should be satisfied even without further upgrade.

My stay there will be in May, so please report your experience after.

I will be there next weekend so I will let you know. Like you, for the extra perks already I am happy. Anything more will be a bonus. It's my first stay at a PH.
