On saturday an act was signed off by the President allowing for US government and Business travelers to use APEC's program for expedited entry to the 20 APEC countries. In short, it means that a frequent traveler to Asia can use the same immigration lines as Airline Crew, AND, its a big AND, you don't have to get a visa each time you visit one of the APEC countries. One visa is good for 3 years. Also mentioned that "Trusted Traveler" is going to be implemented for travel between South Korea, Singapore and the US

I wrote more about it on my blog if you're interested. Click here to be taken to my post.

What are the qualifications for this program and how can I sign up? I plan to travel to TPE quite a bit so going without the line hassle would be awesome.

I'm surprised Japan isn't going to be part of the "Trusted Traveler" program from the beginning..

It will be nice to bypass horrendous immigration lines at airports such as BKK and HKG and not to waste precious passport's pages everytime one enters Indonesia, etc.

My understanding is that despite the important figures who have signed documents, nothing at all has actually changed- there is no card to get yet.

No change to CBP's page about the APEC card either. Same old stuff. This is no card to get, and we have no idea what CBPs criteria will be for the card, which is intended for business people actually involved in foreign trade.

This was announced at the APEC conf in Honolulu some time ago.
