I haven't flown much on AA since becoming EXP, so I have a newbie question - or three.

    - Can I just sit tight and wait for a complimentary domestic upgrade to happen, or not happen?

    - Do I have to be at the airport early to claim an upgrade, or will it just happen and my mobile electronic boarding pass will be automatically upgraded (like UA)

    - Is there any advantage to checking in right at the 24-hour mark?

    Thanks.......

    1. You need to manually request the upgrade on AA.com. You're not automatically on the list.

    2. You don't need to show up early.

    3. Not for your unlimited domestic upgrades, those are based on your time of request. For SWU, yes, try to check in as close to 24 hours ahead of departure if you're still wait listed.
