European leaders are still battling over austerity. The United States Congress is gearing up for another fight over the budget. But in Saudi Arabia, there are no such troubles when you are king — and you just dole out billions and billions of dollars to ordinary Saudis by royal decree.

Not surprisingly, Saudis are very happy with their new monarch, King Salman.

"It is party time for Saudi Arabia right now," said John Sfakianakis, the Riyadh-based Middle East director of the Ashmore Group, an investment company, who estimates that the king's post-coronation giveaway will ultimately cost more than $32 billion.

That is a lot of cash, more, for example, than the entire annual budget for Nigeria, which has Africa's largest economy.

What exactly does this have to do with helping newbies on the travel-related topics that are regularly discussed on MP?

Welcome to MP, I guess. Not sure this information you provide is helpful for this forum however.

I suppose that it could prove useful if you were a subject of the king. But I suspect that most all of them are aware of this news, which is 3 days old at this time:

I suppose, considering this is after all a travel forum he thinks he is doing a service to any of the kings subjects who may be travelling.:D

But come on guys the OP does post some (slightly) oddball comments/responses ...I expect his native language is not English, but he is pretty harmless..
Lets not get any more like that other board than we really have to. :)

The queens name is Janet, and they got married late in the day...

    Salmon Janet evening
    You may see a stranger
    You may see a stranger
    Across a crowded room

    And somehow you know
    You know even then
    That someday you'll see her
    Again and again

    Salmon Janet evening
    Someone may be laughing
    You may hear her laughing
    Across a crowded room

    And night after night
    As strange as it seems
    The sound of her laughter
    Will sing in your dreams

    Who can explain it
    Who can tell you why
    Fools give reasons
    Wise men never try

    Salmon Janet evening
When you find your true love
When you feel her call you
    Across a crowded room

Then fly to her side on
    On Saudi Airlines
    A Sky Team Member
    And make her your own

    Or all through your life
    You may dream all alone

    Once you have found her
    Never let her go
    Once you have found her
    Never let her go

We have so many Newbies wanting free points, free trips, posting on the Newbies board.,only to never post again.

    What better place.

I can understand why they do it, and yet we all know GC are not free.

It is an honest post of something that is really free, and yet we know many others has paid the price for this gift.

I do look at things different than many, who follow the crowd, if we never had a negative comment, we would have no comments...we could all post +1.

I made LifeTime Gold many years ago, before MS, and have moved up a few steps after that,, I see no reason to flash it, The fun is helping others.

    I like free things.

Like a free lunch even though I have been told there are no free lunches in life.

So you want to turn the Newbies board into a version of FlyerTalk's OMNI Politics and Religion forum?

That should go well. Except I mean the opposite of that.

No, no one said any names,

A wealthy man ask a wise man to to write his wisdom in a short book,

The man wrote their ain't no free lunches.

The wise king is returning some of the wealth to the people, to unite them, and benefit them.

It is a good thing, and should be noted as good news,

If I spun it as political, I would say the king is giving them the money back only to charge them for it later.

The King did not say that, nor did I, it was a gift to his people, that is how I interrupted the article.

Time will tell what the people do with the additional money they receive.

The good thing on the MP board it bought some good responds, nice to see some activity,

I understand and appreciate your responses

CNBC, posted it, as a news story, was where I seen it,

It is good to see a King willing to share the wealth, like I said I am sure he want's to unite his people, and that is never a bad idea anytime.

    Especially with ISIS so near..

Many of the Kings subject talked of travel, and places they wanted to go, one even said he was going to get a third wife,

You should read the article, most of the people do not work, the country supports them, and most are employed by the government, and have an income greater than most of our citizens.

There is no real private industry, so they have time to travel,

We should encourage their newbies to come to this country, like we do the Chinese, give them a 10 year visa.

This article has been picked up by several news services,

Great to be setting on unlimited oil, and drilling for it...

Opens the door to travel, cell phone or whatever...

Newbies are always looking for an active board to read, not all newbie post are about flying, we actually need more posters, the last Drink Coupons I gave away went to a Newbee, he has never posted again, but he did Thank me.

This thread reminds me of something about teaching a man [sic] to fish rather than giving him food.

I'm very sorry that I don't think I understand your point- it appears you want the "help the Newbies" forum to be a forum about "whatever I want to write about" because there's not a lot of action? I'm not really sure; your writing style and point is difficult for me to follow.

I don't see a lack of activity in a forum as being a good reason to post a bunch of offtopic posts there. I think it's likely to discourage newbies from asking questions if we have all kinds of random post topics.

I understand, and thought twice myself, and yet I seen a post asking for legal advice.

Too many Newbies come looking for free mlies, often just to be given to them.

This could have been political, yet no names were posted, and It was taken from the NY Times and CNBC a, both liberal news sources, Fox did not have anything to say that I read.

We live in times many want something for nothing, not just newbies.

My post related to a news story, of someone getting something for free, it was also about what they were going to do with their NEW found money, some were going to travel, one wanted a 3rd wife..

It and The Legal Advice Question, could have been posted anyplace on this board, and I would have never made a comment nor a concern as to the post....

Just like the legal guestion post, by jakem4800 1/19/15. I answered and moved on with my life, nor will I go back to his post and make a negative comment...

I am glad to see any new post, be pretty dead otherwise.
