Effective 1 January 2012 inbound travelers no longer are required to complete customs declarations for entry to Brazil by air, unless they have goods to declare. Further, the processing in Customs has changed to make exit much faster than before, by eliminating the former manual document check at exit. This information was told to me by an AA crew member when I asked for a customs form. I have seen no official announcements, so I am not positive that this is true for all Brazil POE's.

Today at rush hour inbound I spent less than one minute passing Customs, compared with last year typically 10-20 minutes at the same time. More on that in the GIG thread.
