EU bans backscatters (x-ray body scanners)

    The ban is only on machines which use x-ray's. They still allow millimeter wave scanners but are now allowing opt out (I was refused the option of opting out at AMS this summer).

    Are they using these machines randomly? Only on flights to particular destinations?

    Proof for all Euroskeptics that Brussels always eventually does right by us. Hopefully, they force the UK Government's hand to allow a civilised opt-out method. If the opt-out turns into a US style retaliatory grope, I trust the EU to put a stop to that too - just hope it does not take as long.

    I was able to opt out at AMS 1 week ago.
