They have a contract with one of the Houston Midas franchises for brake maintenance. ;)

Is this diversion different from the one you'd posted about?

Not only have I just found out that it is the same B788, I wondered whether there exists a service or website (there is one for just about anything you can think of these days) that reports airline incident, Googled it, and just came upon the mother of all such sites: Global Aviation Incident Map.The possibilities are endless:

Rather minimalistic compared to the Global Aviation Incident Map, which displays the incidents/accidents on a world map and has a very powerful filter that let's the user select the incidents/accidents to display:
    • Plane Crash - Commercial Passenger Jet
    • Plane Crash - Military Aircraft
    • Plane Crash - Private Or Corporate Jet
    • Plane Crash - Private Or Corporate Small Aircraft
    • Helicopter Crash - Or Emergency Landing
    • Emergency Or Forced Landing - Commercial Jet
    • Emergency Or Forced Landing - Military Aircraft
    • Emergency Or Forced Landing - Private Aircraft
    • Emergency Or Forced Landing - Corporate Jet
    • Hot Air Balloon Or Blimp Incidents
    • Glider Crash Or Emergency Landing
    • Airspace Intrusion
    • Airport Incident - Arson - Weather Events - Other
    • Aircraft Laser Incidents - Lasing
    • Ultra-Light Aircraft - Hang Gliders - Etc
    • Helicopter Crash - Or Emergency Landing - Military
    • Aviation - General News
And if you look just under the map, the site can also display a disease outbreak map, a drug interdictions map, a terrorism event predictions map, a presidential threat map, and even a human trafficking map!

It seems that one must be a registered user to view some of the maps, but considering some of the options that are available, it is not tough to understand why.;)

I guess in the unlikely event I am interested in the latest blimp accidents I will use that Global Aviation thingie. Otherwise, I prefer KISS. ;)

YMMV, but the point of my last post was really to say that it was much more than a global aviation incident map. It is a global map of what I would call the "occupational hazards" for us globetrotters! Bookmark it and don't leave home without it, or, at least, without looking at it!:)
