EQM's on O/W Partners

    I apologize if this has been asked in another forum (I looked and did not find)...:confused:

    Can you earn AA EQM's for flying on O/W partners?

    You have to be very careful with partners as it all revolves around the fare basis. For instance, if you look at the Qantas page on AA.com, you'll find that discounted coach only earns 50% EQM.

    If you look at Cathay's page, you'll find that discounted coach fares don't earn anything. You have to purchase H or higher to get EQM.

    You can always book the AA codeshare, often at a higher price in my experience, to get 100% EQM.

    I just priced a trip in Oct on Cathay and AA. Tom is absolutely right - Price on CX is about $150 cheaper than AA.com's codeshare, but the ticket on CX.com doesn't have AA miles and no AA EQM.
