Enterprise Holdings announced last week that it has bought Mint Cars On-Demand. This is a car sharing business in New York City and Boston that serves over 8,000 members. The acquisition closed on Friday, and the financial terms won’t be disclosed. However, the company says Mint car sharing services will be offered under the current brand name to begin with. The vehicles, on the other hand, will be immediately incorporated into the local Enterprise fleets in New York City and Boston. They be will operated as an extension of the Enterprise model, which includes a variety of hourly rental, car leasing and vanpooling schemes already.

Enterprise Holdings already owns and operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car hire brands. It was founded in 1957 and has always had a focus on community transport needs – with offices located where customers live and work. It has 5,000 branch offices located within 15 miles of 90% of the US population and has over twice as many locations in neighbourhoods than its closest rival. By the end of the year, Enterprise’s car sharing services – Mint, WeCar by Enterprise and PhillyCarShare – will be turned into the Enterprise Car Share brand name across the US.
