I have two longer haul UA flights, in BF on the old 764s comping up. Their site shows they have "em power." The short and sweet then is: do I need to bring my own power converter/inverter if I intend to have to charge a laptop/ipad/other gadgets? For one of the trips there will be four of us! As a newbie in the air I'm simply not sure what to expect.

You will have to bring your own converter as United does not provide them at all to their own customers.

As for expectations, set them low and you'll come out all smiles :D.

It's also quite possible you'll end up on a new configuration 764 and not need an Empower adapter. I would still bring it just in case if you think you'll need power.

I highly recommend this adapter for EmPower. It is small and light, and fits easily in the seat with you. You can plug a laptop or charger into it or a couple of USB chargers. It was a great investment.
