Only a couple of weeks ago Tim Clark said that EK had intended to operate the A380 to GRU, where the 777 service has been above 80% average load since inception of the route. He said they'd been unable to do so because there was no place to store the aircraft during the six hours it would wait for turnaround. Yesterday in a surprise move Infraaero said they had finalized the arrangements with EK and the A380 will indeed begin to serve GRU. The date is not set because service will only begin when new aircraft arrive. In related news the EK DXB-GIG-EZE service set to begin in January with a 777 is said to be more than 80% booked during the first three months of service. This information is summarized from reports today in Valor, O Globo and other sources.
