Effective today, American AAdvantage and WestJet Rewards members can earn AAdvantage miles or WestJet dollars when flying on either airline.

AAdvantage members can earn 100 percent base miles on eligible published fares on WestJet, which flies within Canada and between Canada and the U.S., Caribbean and Mexico. The partnership does not include the ability to redeem for flights on either airline.

Will these miles count towards status, as in BIS miles ?

On AA codeshares, yes. If it's just a normal Westjet flight without AA codeshare it's just RDM.

Redeemable miles. Meaning the miles that you can use for an award. EQM are the type of miles that qualify for status.

On MilePoint you can actually double click on most acronyms and it will tell you what they mean, in case you ever see another term you're not familiar with. :)

My word... The things I learn reading random threads. Very nice feature that I didn't even know about. Thanks for the heads up @DestinationDavid;)
