The AutoShow, produced by the Toronto Auto Dealers Association (TADA), runs from Feb. 18 to Feb. 27 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (north and south buildings). This world-class event attracts up to 350,000 visitors each year. It has achieved its high-ranking status as a premier auto show not only by its sheer size (1,000 automobiles covering 600,000 square feet of floor space), but also by its scope, breadth and diversity. AutoShow directors (TADA), sponsors, participating vendors, manufacturers, our dealers and consumers clearly understand that the automobile and its role in society, is and will always be an exciting and sensory experience. The theme of this year’s show — Discover. Connect. Experience. — reflects the broad range of technology available for today’s automobiles and the expanding offerings of electric hybrids, pure electric solutions and other alternative fuel models. There is definite enthusiasm among consumers for the industry’s latest products, which can only be described as the best that have ever been produced. The automobile sector is the leading adapter of all of the latest technologies, from light weight alloys and composites to communications and vehicle-control systems. This year, an impressive lineup of automobiles, concept vehicles, exhibits and activities awaits. Not to be missed during your visit is the Concorso Exotica, a stunning collection of super luxury automobile brands featuring Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari, Lotus, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce and more. Various industry, award finalists and winners will be on display, including the AJAC Car of the Year, Cruise Nationals Grand Champions and Natural Resources Canada Fuel Consumption winners. And don’t miss a special retrospective exhibit saluting two iconic automobile brands: Camaro and Firebird. This year, the show’s producers, the Toronto Automobile Dealers Association (TADA), will enjoy a higher profile and visibility, with its own booth in the South Building on Level 800 beside the Toronto Star Wheels display and close to the Shuttle Bus drop-off. The public is encouraged to drop by the TADA booth to enter a draw to win 500,000 Aeroplan Miles. The TADA will highlight its involvement in the community and its many charitable activities, ranging from the Canadian Safe School Networks, the Trillium Gift of Life Network, the Toronto Police Services-sponsored Child Seat Safety Coalition and our multi-million dollar commitment to the new Ronald McDonald House. Visitors will have a chance to win lots of other exciting prizes. On the 300 level, AutoTrader will offer a chance to win a Camaro and Via Rail will present the Great Canadian Touring Class contest. You could also win a Lexus CT200H, or one of 25 Chevrolet Cruze automobiles. There is no reason not to visit the AutoShow if you have young children. The Volkswagen Children’s Playcare Centre is located on the 600 Level in the South Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Tickets are reasonably priced and offer exceptional value: adults, $20, children 7-12, $7, and children under 6 are free. Buy tickets at the AutoShow website (E-Ticket Fastlane) and save 10 per cent, plus you’ll avoid the lineups. Family admission passes, multi-day passes and group rates are available. There are ample public parking lots nearby and public transit is quick, convenient and accessible. For more information, visit www.autoshow.ca.
