If I have an extra bag, can I (indeed, am I expected to) tag it and pay for it at the self-service machines, or does this mean I have to join the queue for the counter?

Similarly, what about a heavy bag? (Although I'm hoping that judicious allocation of items between the bags will avoid going over the 23 kg for any of them.)

The cost was factored in to the ticket buying decision, but the NZ website isn't very clear about the extent to which the self-service process covers this.
