Why report yourself? I think the discussion has a place in the AA forum as well as the US forum.

I try to avoid double-posts.... ;) That said, it did seem relevant to the AA forum and I did not even think about US...

Don't worry, I never do either. ;) Which is also my way of saying that if this turns out to be a valid indication of the direction AA is going, I might have to change my signature from "Star-curious" to "Star-n00b".

If it's any consolation, this was posted on the original article awhile ago:

UPDATE 4:45PM ET: US Airways has confirmed to TheStreet.com that it was behind the purchase of the domain names. US Airways spokeswoman Michelle Mohr told them, “The purchase of these domain names, along with other potential transaction names, is simply step to ensure others do not use our marks in a way that might negatively impact our brand.”

Nice...I'm sure Doug & Co. are certainly looking closely at the prospect of a US/AA merger...

Domain names are cheaper when you get them first. US has been very open that they'd like to buy AA, so it's a no brainier to register some names preemptively.

Well considering we've been yammering away for weeks now about the merger intentions of US and DL, I don't think anyone is surprised that US bought the names. You'd think DL or TPG would do the same. It'll be a fun couple of months ahead.

If this is true.. Are we seeing AA as part of *A or US moving to OW? Hmm..

The loss of AA as part of OW is a crippling blow to the alliance.. Should it happen anyways..

My total WAG is that US would get out from under UA's shadow in *A and join OW as the lone US carrier there.

So I guess it was not a sign after all. Thank God:

OK, so maybe American Airlines hasn’t decided who to merge with, registers Delta and United domains

Is there anyone else who sees an investment opportunity here? We can call it the Milepoint fund. Pool cash, start buying up domain names for potential mergers. We can start with airlines and slowly diversify through several industries. First up: fedup.com, for when Fed Ex and UPS eventually merge.

    We'll rule the tri-state area!

You missed the domain registration jackpot by about 20years haha.. Now you just get sued and they take it from you.
