Apologies for the basic question: my Hyatt account is about to hit a year since last stay and I don't have any easy way of getting a quick stay (not so many Hyatts in Japan). Will purchasing points extend the life of my account? :D

Although Hyatt T&Cs allow for them to close an account / delete the points if there is no activity within the last year, in practice, they do not do this. About 10 years ago, I discovered that my account was closed and points deleted from no activity, upon request, they reopened and restored my points.

But the answer to your question should be yes - it would extend the life of your account even though it probably wasn't dying anyways.

    D'oh! That's a bit sneaky of them, isn't it? :)

Good to know for next time.
