Does one have to be top-tier elite on another chain for Plat challenge?

A colleague will have significant travel soon, and could qualify for a plat challenge if extended to him.

Previously, a match to plat has required top tier status on another chain.

Is there any data on whether receiving a challenge requires any particular status?

I think the answer is no, but all of the terms of the relatively new SPG policy on Plat challenges rather than matches isn't clear yet. There's a thread devoted to the topic in this forum.

    Hi!

At all SPG dont offer any Statusmatches anymore but a Competition to Platinum.
So just ask for the Challenge at SPG Platinum Liaison, have your stays and enjoy the Status for 2 Years.. ;)

No Status at other Programme have to be prove before!

    Greetings Mark

Yep, I'm doing a Plat challenge now (15 nights in 90 days), and there was no mention of status at other hotel groups.

    Good luck :D
