Just wondering if buying miles from BA website will count as a BA purchase and therefore earn 2.5 miles per dollar on BA Chase Visa...Chase website says any BA purchase, so I assume miles also count right?

Miles purchases are actually powered by points.com, as a result it does not get flagged as BA spend as the transaction is not with BA.

I've no first hand experience of doing it, but this is well documented in frequent flyer discussions online. While most of that relates to the UK BA Amex card, I can't see why this would be any different - unless Chase have programmed their systems for such, but I think this would be unlikely as they would have dificulty segregating it out from other points.com transactions.

General advice for anyone else reading this: Remember buying miles is rarely good value. [Outside of limited circumstances and buying limited quantites of miles in thouse circumstances.]

Interestingly enough both DH and I are on a current BA visa promo offering us 2.5 miles for every $ spent for the period September to November.

Wonder how many others got the offer, it did not require enrollment.
