Does a schedule change on an award flight entitle changes without fees?.

Specifically, I have an award scheduled from A-B, 8 hour layover B-C. They changed the times slightly on the flight from B-C, I don't really care but is it enough to allow fee-free changes? I have found availability on a flight from A-C and would prefer that.

What about dates, can the the flight be moved sooner by a day in the change?

    Thank you in advance.

it really depends on how big the change was and of course on how well you can talk;)
but give it a shot.worst case they say no....

The typical party line is a 2 hour change will see most rules bent without much issue. Less than that and you have to be rather creative with the agents.

Thanks, I may just pay the change fees if needed.

Can you change dates (1 day) on award tickets without problems?

I may be completely off base with this (I probably am) but I thought any schedule change in excess of 15 minutes allowed for changes without fees.

In any case the adage of it doesn't hurt to ask holds true.

ETA according to UA.com changing days of an award, more than 21 days out, does not create a charge for any member.

Remember the rule: HUACA. Hang up and call again.

Also, things like "another agent suggested <insert flight> instead, but I needed to check with my wife/husband/partner" help.

Lately I've been told 2 hours. But I've also been told many other ridiculous things so who knows...

Thanks all was able to talk the agent into it. A 15 minute change to an original segment got me a direct flight, and an extra day in Europe. However the taxes/fees did go up by $0.30, practically broke the bank.

Official policy is 2 hours but agents have latitude on how to handle minor schedule changes.
