Do you earn qualifying miles on Air-Lingus?

    You need to check, but I think the answer may be that UA gives status miles only for *A operated flights and Air Lingus is not a *A member. Also, on *A it's the metal (operated by) carrier that counts, not codeshares, where codeshare fare classes are translated back to fare classes offered by the operating carrier.
     
  3. that is the correct interpretation. AerLingus gives out BA miles only as far as I know.

    Miles on Aer Lingus as far as I know are only RDM, not PQM for accrual on UA and as you see in the link above, they are not generous unless you fly J.

    I'd avoid them for all but award travel (assuming they are still a award partner?)

    Thanks everyone. Might not have a choice with $3k difference in J but ill keep looking....
